We stayed in these cabins. One for the boys and one for the girls. It was a new thing for our ward to have a winter Youth Conference. I think all enjoyed the change. The youth had a 7 ward dance and lots of workshops. John Bytheway came and spoke about this years theme 'Be thou an Example'. It was of course, great. He talked about the message "It will all work out" which was President Hinckleys life motto. President Hinckley would say that almost daily in every situation and on every occasion. John encouraged the youth to let their light shine like diamonds on black velvet.We must all stand out in this dark world as examples. He talked about how the gospel shines in your eyes if you are living righteously. He taught them many ways to be an example. My favorite part of his talk was the 'mirror principle' when you become closer to God, God becomes closer to you. This is just like when you bring a mirror closer to you, your image becomes closer to you.
Everyone got to either snow shoe or cross country ski, some were better than others. The girls had a pajama fashion show and showed off their funny pj's. The game room had pool, ping pong and air hockey and a big screen to watch movies, so there was plenty to do for everyone. Mitch had a great time even though he had both parents there cramping his style. The youth in our ward are great and so much fun to hang out with. They really are great examples to all.
